Deadpool 3 Brings Back Character Who “Died” In Last Movie

Rob Delaney is set to return for Deadpool 3 as part of the ensemble cast led by Ryan Reynolds and directed by Shawn Levy for Marvel Studios. Deadline was first to report.

Delaney will reprise his role as Peter, a character who joined Deadpool and Weasel as part of their team X-Force in the second movie. Peter, a regular person with no superpowers, died at the beginning of Deadpool 2. Deadpool uses a time travel device to save his life in the post-credits scene, however, thus allowing him to return in Deadpool 2. The screenplay for the third film was written by Reynolds, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese, and Zeb Wells.

“We are writing, rewriting, developing, and prepping Deadpool every day now. It is such a blast to laugh every day,” Levy told Collider in an interview late last year. “It is so delicious to hear and write and come up with these scenes where people are just talking foul. And the violence is in your face and hardcore, and it’s very much a Deadpool movie.”

The plot of the movie has not been revealed, but past installments have followed the adventures of Wade Wilson, a mercenary who becomes the foul-mouthed superhero Deadpool after a science experiment goes wrong. The cast also includes Karan Soni, Leslie Uggams, Morena Baccarin, and Stefan Kapicic, who are returning from the previous movies, as well as newcomers Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, and Matthew Macfadyen.

Deadpool 3 is the first title in the franchise to involve Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige following Disney’s acquisition of Fox, the company that produced the first two Deadpool movies. Deadpool 3 is scheduled to be released on November 8, 2024.

Apart from Deadpool 3, Delaney has several other upcoming projects, including Argylle, a spy film for Apple directed by Matthew Vaughn, the Apple series Bad Monkey with Vince Vaughn, and Paramount’s Mission: Impossible–Dead Reckoning Part One.
