Ubisoft Has An Unannounced “Large” Game Coming In Next Year

Ubisoft has begun to announce its upcoming games lineup, and in addition to titles that have already been announced, one “large game” is on the schedule, too.

The lineup of titles launching during Ubisoft’s current fiscal year ending March 31, 2024 includes Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Rainbow Six Mobile, Skull and Bones, The Crew Motorfest, The Division Resurgence, XDefiant, and “another large game.”

Reporter Ethan Gach of Kotaku said on Twitter that this “large game” could be Ubisoft’s Star Wars game from the makers of The Division. Gach reported that development is “going well and the company is eager to get it our asap.” A spokesperson for Ubisoft told GameSpot, “We don’t comment on rumors or speculation.”

Ubisoft presumably has plenty of games in the works that could be considered “large,” so if it’s not Star Wars, it could be something else. In any event, Ubisoft management said on an earnings call that it will have more news to share about its upcoming release slate during Ubisoft Forward in June.

The creative director on Ubisoft’s Star Wars game has said 2023 will be a “huge year” for the team, but this doesn’t necessarily mean the game is going to launch this year.

Ubisoft’s new Star Wars game is a “story-driven, open-world experience within the Star Wars galaxy that will also utilize the studio’s cutting-edge technology and advancements, including the Snowdrop engine,” according to the publisher.

In other Ubisoft news, the company just announced that it plans to ramp up its Assassin’s Creed development team sizes, from 2,000 to about 2,800 in the coming years.
